Ganesh Chaturthi is a Hindu festival celebrated over ten days to honor the birth of the elephant-headed deity Lord Ganesha (also known as Ganesh), the god of wisdom, prosperity, and the remover of obstacles. The celebration involves installing Ganesha idols at home or in elaborate public stages called pandals, offering prayers and sweets (especially modaks), and culminating in a public procession where the idols are immersed in a body of water, a ritual called Visarjan.
